Parent Helpers

This is NOT a drop and go zone. Regardless of the age of your little athlete, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Parent Responsibilities

  • Arrive and sign in at 4.30 for a 4.45pm start
  • LISTEN to all announcements
  • Pick up the monthly newsletter and read it
  • Check the notice board for any changes
  • Remember the committee is made up of volunteers who are parents too
  • Pay careful attention to closing dates for entries into various competitions
  • Be prepared to help every week. Below is a list of jobs that must be filled by parents/guardians before the meet can begin. Please do not hesitate to put your name down for a job when you sign in your children

Parents are also encouraged to volunteer to help around the club, the following positions need to be filled:

  • 15x Chaperoning of an age group – Taking a group around to their programmed events and recording their results
  • 15x Chaperoning assistants of an age group – Support the chaperone with the recording
  • 2x Starter – Getting the children in formation to start a race and firing the gun
  • 2x Starter’s Assistant – Support the starter with the athletes and communication with the timers
  • 8x Timers – Record the times in a race and pass the results onto the appropriate chaperone
  • 2x Catchers – Records place finishers for timers
  • 4-7x Manning a Field Event – Assist in the recording of results and demonstrate the event if needed and able
  • 2x BBQ chief – Cook the sausages for the Sausage Sizzle
  • 2x BBQ servers – Serve the sausages for the Sausage Sizzle

Unfortunately, it has been difficult in previous years to get all positions filled, which has resulted in nights not running smoothly. You do not need to be competent before volunteering as the best way to learn is on the job. Please come forward quickly and choose a position.
