One club
There has always been a distinct separation between Little Athletics and Senior Athletics within Australia and this has in turn seen many little athletes stop or transition to other sports as there have been no pathways to continue beyond Little Athletics.
Little Athletics SA (SALAA) and Athletics SA (ASA) initiated talks to look at athletics pathways to give athletes the opportunity to progress to Senior Athletics if they wish to. On October 3rd Athletics SA issued a press statement on One Athletics
Mt Barker Athletics committee decided to take the leap and become a One Club in 2017-18 season (affiliate with Little and Senior Athletics).
What does this mean?
Dual Athletics provides the opportunity to attend SALAA and ASA events at home and Athletics Stadium, some more information on the ASA season is here.
ASA offer discounted rates for U14 and First Year athletes, the introductory membership gives you the platinum level of membership for a discounted price, Select the U14 rate on the SALAA registration page. For more information on the ASA membership fees please click here
Mt Barker is working to develop coaching oportunities, as you will appreciate, athletics incorporates many disciplines and sub disciplines as you become more competitive and it takes time to identify and develop coaches, financial commitments and a significant personal commitment. As a young club we are looking to get this development underway, but it will take time.
If your little athlete is interested in Senior Athletics, ASA hold open days, this is an opportunity to go down to the stadium and have a go before you commit and register. if you wish to join and compete as a senior athlete as well as little athletics, we will offer the dual membership discount. - U15 – U17 Traditional $243.00 (*$233.00)
- U15 – U17 Platinum $353.00 (*$343.00)
